Mission:
Cycle Citation gives cyclists a place to post video, photo, written evidence of drivers illegally endangering our lives and advocate for justice. While we report all driver that break laws, we focus on enforcing laws that protect bike lanes.
On a daily basis cyclists encounter drivers that endanger our lives by breaking the law. Cars regularly park, drive, and turn without blinkers in bike lanes. Countless people talk or text while they drive. Some drivers do far worse. All of this illegal driving threatens our well being. Cyclists are in a unique position to stop these abuses by using a helmet cam to tape infractions and reports them to authorities via Cycle Citation. The site makes it easy to report all the relevant information to pursue justice in the form of a ticket.
Cycle Citation will push state, city, and local agencies to act on submitted evidence and issue parking and traffic violations. If existing laws don’t allow for this form of evidence, we will push law makers to change the law. If citizen cyclists assert our rights on the roads through community reporting, we will make it safer to ride. Down the road every rider with a helmet cam will command respect. All cycling will be safer.
Cycle Citation is currently running its open beta in New York City, but welcomes submissions, participation, and advice from anywhere.
